Willen Hospice Cycle Sportive Supported by BCG
Clare Francis
My Story
This October would have been Charles's 70th Birthday. I will be lucky enough to have reached State pension age the same month. I've already had 9 more years than he had to enjoy my life. Just think what he could have done in the 12 years since his death? A lot more cycling, that's for sure!
Fundraising for Willen through his various band concerts was a big part of Charles's last ten years, so I feel it's a good way to celebrate what would have been a milestone birthday doing something we both loved doing together and raising money for the Hospice which also helped us during his illness.
Fundraising through events like Willen Hospice's Cycle Sportive helps it to continue to care for local people and their families who are living with life-limiting illnesses. The charity has a very special place in the hearts of people in MK and surrounding area. At the toughest time of their lives, the staff do everything they can so people feel relief from pain and families can enjoy the precious moments they have left together. While the Hospice can't change the patients' diagnosis, it can help improve their quality of life, as they come to terms with their illness. The highly skilled professional team provides the best quality and heartfelt care - and it's all free to everyone who needs it. It can only do this because of the support of people like you.
