My Story

Hey everyone! I’m Hen and on Saturday 12th September I will be doing the 5 mile Willen Hospice ‘All New’ Moo with my mum Jan and assistance dog Zebo (in the picture with me). I will also be joined by JJ who works at the Hospice! Due to Coronavirus, the Hospice’s annual Midnight Moo Walk can’t go ahead, instead the ‘All New’ Moo is taking place during the day and means that socially distanced groups/individuals can take part wherever they are!

As you can imagine, fundraising events have been severely affected this year, meaning Willen needs our help now more than ever. The team at the hospice do everything they can to provide heartfelt, quality care for their patients and support for their loved ones.

As a 27 year old patient with an undiagnosed progressive neurological condition I have been involved with the hospice for the past few years, including 2 inpatient stays this year.

Being at the hospice has helped me get back into a routine after extended stays in hospital and has made coming home far less overwhelming for me and my family. During the pandemic especially, it was lovely being able to have my family visit whilst knowing that every precaution was being taken to keep us all safe.

Most importantly, knowing that the staff are there to look after me gives my mum a well deserved break and for me it is nice being somewhere ‘non-clinical’ that feels like home and has all the home comforts too, who knew how much you’d miss the television after a few weeks in hospital without one!

Thank you for supporting my fundraising and helping make sure that the great work of the Hospice and its staff can continue!
